TAMC Nurses to March For Safe Staffing, Safe Patient Care

Nurses represented by the Maine State Nurses Association/National Nurses United (MSNA/NNU) have been in contract negotiations with TAMC since early April. Nurses are asking for provisions that would ensure safe staffing at the medical center—by including improved nurse-to-patient ratios and factoring in the staffing necessary to care for patients at more severe levels of illness or injury.

Hundreds of Massachusetts RNs to Rally for Patient Safety Outside the State House May 21

Hundreds of nurses, joined by other health care advocates and policy makers, will hold a rally outside the State House on two critically important issues affecting the health care of every resident in Massachusetts, as the deadline for legislative action draws near for two ballot initiatives that garnered more than 200,000 signatures from Massachusetts voters last fall. In addition to calling for legislative action, the nurses are using the event to launch the final round of signature gathering needed to place the issues on the ballot in November.

Marlborough Hospital Nurses to Deliver Safer Staffing Petition

Marlborough, Mass--In the wake of ill-advised staffing cuts in the emergency department and unsafe patient assignments on other hospital units, the registered nurses of Marlborough Hospital have decided to appeal directly to the facility’s CEO for support in addressing what nurses characterize as a growing patient safety crisis. On Thursday, a delegation of nurses will hand deliver a petition signed by more than 85 percent of the nurses at the hospital, to CEO Steven Roach.
