Registered nurses at Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, will hold a rally on Wednesday, April 2, to protest devastating cuts to VA staffing and to stand up for their patients, veterans who deserve the best care, announced National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United today. This action is happening amidst an unprecedented attack on federal employees’ protected union rights by the current administration, which NNU nurses strongly oppose.

Registered nurses at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., will hold a rally on Thursday, March 6, to highlight patient safety concerns and expose the life-threatening conditions patients face due to extreme short-staffing. Nurses note that a patient recently died in the emergency room during a shift when nurses say the unit was down at least six nurses at the start of the shift.

Registered Nurse Response Network, in partnership with International Medical Corps, deployed two teams of nurse volunteers to Asheville, N.C. to support the Hurricane Helene recovery. The fourteen nurses who volunteered on the Asheville RNRN deployment cared for residents who had arrived at shelters and clinics in the immediate aftermath of the unprecedented storm.
