Registered nurses at Maine Medical Center have reached a final “tentative agreement” with hospital administration on their first union contract, covering issues such as patient and workplace safety, wages, benefits, and working conditions.
Nurses say the new contract will help in the hospital’s efforts to recruit and retain RNs in order to promote strong nursing teams and create an optimal healing environment for all patients.
The new collective bargaining agreement was ratified on July 27 with 98 percent of RNs’ support. The board of directors of Hazel Hawkins voted unanimously to approve the new contract at their July 28 board meeting.
