Governor signs nurse-sponsored bill to help save hospitals, medical services from closures and cuts

The more than 100,000 registered nurses of the California Nurses Association on Friday welcomed Gov. Gavin Newsom’s signature of a bill they sponsored, A.B. 2037, that will help ensure local communities can continue to access desperately needed medical care by expanding noticing requirements when hospitals plan to close or eliminate existing services.

Mission Hospital nurses win largest hospital union victory in South since 1975

In the first private sector hospital union election win in North Carolina, the largest at any nonunion hospital in the South since 1975 – RNs at Mission Hospital voted this week by a stunning 70 percent to join the nation’s largest RN union to secure a powerful voice for improved care and workplace safety.
