Good thing Frances Perkins is not hearing the disinformation from Washington and many in the media today claiming Social Security is going broke and that there is a “consensus” that cuts are needed in Social Security to reduce the federal deficit.

Members of the second team of volunteer nurses – three sisters from California – left Thursday for the Philippines to help in the RN Response Network’s relief project for Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. The siblings – Mary Lou Catedral, RN, her twin sister, Mary Ann Libeta, RN and their younger sister, Nancy Canapi, RN - are returning to their hometown, Roxas City, in the province of Capiz on the island of Panay.

The upcoming regulations are the result of a CNA-sponsored bill, SB 1299—the Healthcare Workplace Violence Prevention Act—which was signed in 2014 by California Governor Jerry Brown. The bill mandates that hospitals have a comprehensive workplace violence prevention plan; Cal/OSHA’s regulations will implement the law.
