Longmont United nurses ratify their first union contract with strong measures to improve patient safety and nurse retention

Registered nurses at CommonSpirit Longmont United Hospital (LUH) in Longmont, Colo., made history today by voting overwhelmingly in favor of ratifying a new three-year contract, winning protections to improve patient safety and nurse retention. This is the first union contract for the nurses at LUH and the first private-sector contract for RNs in the state of Colorado.

Registered nurses at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois voted overwhelmingly in favor of ratifying a new four-year contract on Monday, April 7, winning protections to improve patient safety and nurse retention. Ingalls RNs have been fighting for a strong contract since December 2024.
