San Bernardino County Nurses Voice Concern, Support For the Wounded, and Others Affected in Shooting
Registered nurses who work at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and other San Bernardino County health facilities late today voiced concern and support for those wounded and other county workers affected by the nation’s latest mass shooting.
The California Nurses Association/National Nurses United, which represents San Bernardino County RNs, said it has been informed that Arrowhead has received some of the shooting victims who are presently receiving care and has stepped up security measures and disaster prevention steps in the wake of the local terrorist attack.
“We join with all members of our community in expressing our deepest sympathy to the families who lost loved ones, our commitment to providing the highest level of care for the wounded, and our outrage that any of our friends and neighbors were subjected to this terrible shooting,” said Arrowhead RN Rhonda Watts.,
“As nurses, as residents of a now grieving community, we stand together to reject any and all violence, including gun violence. We also urge everyone to come together to support those who provide public service who appear to be the most immediate victims of this event,” said Kimberly Amini, a San Bernardino County public health RN.
CNA Co-President Malinda Markowitz, RN, said the assault is “just the latest reminder that is long past time to take strong action to reduce the unconscionable gun violence that continues to plague our nation.”
“It’s is also time to recognize the global parallels. Whether it is acts of terror in Paris or Beirut or mass shootings on streets in America from Newtown, Ct. to Colorado Springs, Co. to San Bernardino Ca., the unimaginable loss of human life is unforgiveable and inexcusable,” Markowitz said.
“All of us should re-dedicate ourselves to fighting this scourge of gun violence with comprehensive solutions once and for all,” Markowitz concluded.
