Stops at Colleges, Youth Mock Caucus, Sanders Town Hall

National Nurses United members continue their campaign swing in South Carolina Tuesday and Wednesday joining a town hall in Charleston for Sen. Bernie Sanders and a youth mock caucus Tuesday, followed by a series of visits to talk to students at college campuses Wednesday in Orangeburg and Columbia.

Nurses are seeking to connect with voters leading up to the Democratic Party primary February 27 to explain why nurses support Sen. Sanders, which include his commitment to guaranteed healthcare for all, assuring equal educational opportunity for all by eliminating public college tuition to drive down student debt, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and creating millions of good paying jobs by rebuilding the nation’s crumbling infrastructure, and broad criminal justice reform.

"I support Bernie Sanders because he really cares about people," said Jahazie Moore, a high school senior at Conway High School in Horry County, SC, who was attending a town hall meeting in support of the senator. "He has good ideas about free public education, and he wants to make healthcare a right not a privilege."

At South Carolina State University students posed with the #BernieBus many holding signs voicing support for Sen. Sanders and his proposal for free public college and university tuition and hammering away at the student debt crisis.

I’m voting for wrote one student, "because I love that he thinking of the college students and wants free education for public colleges and universities.  I'm the first in my family to go to college and I'd like to see my little cousins and others to have that same opportunity."

For months National Nurses United members have been campaigning for Sanders, in rallies, house parties, talking to voters and traveling around early voting states in a #BernieBus which has visited voters at public sites and events.
