Nurses Hold Light Brigade for Bernie on Vegas Strip Wednesday
National Nurses United’s #BernieBus is making its way back to Vegas Wednesday evening, where nurses will host a “light brigade for Bernie”—featuring LED “Bernie” signs on the Vegas strip, near the Bellagio, to draw attention to Sanders’ campaign.
“These last few days leading up to the caucus feel electric, and I’m excited to be out there showing that energy, literally, by taking part in this light brigade for Bernie,” said Nevada nurse June Reyes, RN. “It opens a door for more of the great conversations we’ve already been having with Nevada voters about single payer and all the issues Bernie champions that reflect nurses' values."
What: Light Brigade for Bernie
Where: Near Bellagio, pedestrian overpass at Las Vegas Blvd/Flamingo Rd.
When: Wednesday, February 17, 7 p.m.
After Wednesday evening’s light brigade, the #BernieBus will continue its Vegas activities with a swing through the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus Thursday afternoon, and then an evening stop at the Democratic Town Hall with Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, hosted by MSNBC and Telemundo.
The Democratic Town Hall, at the KMA Event Center (888 W. Bonneville Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89106), will take place from 6-8 p.m. PT on Thursday, and the #BernieBus will be at the event center from 5:30 p.m. on.
National Nurses United is the largest union of nurses in the country, with 185,000 members nationwide, and was the first national union to endorse Bernie in August, 2015. In addition to the #BernieBus, NNU nurse members across the country also continue to knock on doors, phone bank, hold house parties, and participate in marches for Bernie.
