Nurses #BernieBus Accelerates its Get-Out-the Vote Campaign For Sanders with Stop at Cal. State

Student vote critical as latest polls has Sanders with one point lead

With the latest polls showing Senator Bernie Sanders ahead with a one point lead in California, the National Nurses United (NNU) members —who spent months driving a bright red #BernieBus from coast to coast, campaigning for Sen. Bernie Sanders are accelerating their Get-Out-the-Vote efforts in the final few days before the June 7 primary.

The nurses have crisscrossed the country talking to voters since last fall, and have been traveling through California since early May in their iconic red bus, which will pay a visit to Cal State University. Bakersfield Friday morning to ensure that Sander supporters know voting times and the location of their polling places.

“We have found tremendous enthusiasm and support for Senator Sanders especially among students, many of whom are first time voters and don’t understand the process’ said Sandy Reding, an RN who works at a Bakersfield hospital. “We can win this only if we harness that excitement into actual votes next Tuesday.”

As the #BernieBus tour has traversed America, nurses have emphasized Sanders’ commitment to guaranteed healthcare for all, assuring equal educational opportunity for all by eliminating public college tuition to drive down student debt, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and creating millions of good paying jobs by rebuilding the nation’s crumbling infrastructure, and broad criminal justice reform, as well as opposition to unfair trade pacts.

“From California to New Hampshire, from Colorado to Florida RNs have talked to voters and been reminded of the huge gaps in access to healthcare and education, concerns about retirement security, the jobs lost due to unfair trade deals, widespread inequality, and the escalating climate crisis,” said RoseAnn DeMoro, NNU Executive Director. “Bernie Sanders and the legions of grassroots activists around the U.S. who have joined him will not stop.
