National Nurses United Endorses Orange & May for Re-Election to the DC Council
WASHINGTON, DC-- National Nurses United, the nation's largest organization of registered nurses, today endorsed At-large Councilmember Vincent Orange and Ward 8 Councilmember LaRuby May for re-election to the District of Columbia Council.
“Councilmember Orange has demonstrated his leadership and commitment to the nurses of the District and to our patients,” said Donna Turner, RN, a DC resident and a member of National Nurses United. “Councilmember Orange has been a champion of the Patient Protection Act, the bill before the DC Council to improve care in our hospitals by creating a safe staffing standard. Nurses endorse Councilmember Orange because he shares our priorities of public health and patient safety.”
“Nurses are proud to endorse Councilmember LaRuby May because she shares nurses’ values of caring, compassion, and community,” said Stephanie Sims, RN, a resident of Ward 8 and a member of National Nurses United. “We believe Councilmember May’s dedication to healing DC – and the neighborhoods and people of Ward 8 in particular – put her on track to be a leader in fighting health disparities and improving public health.”
National Nurses United has 190,000 members across the United States, and 4,400 RNs in DC with its affiliate, the District of Columbia Nurses Association.
