Nurses in Hayward are protesting plans to close a Kaiser Permanente inpatient pediatric unit. The services would be available to Kaiser members at the Oakland or Santa Clara hospitals. In a statement, Kaiser Permanente said it was "disappointed" with the nurses' reaction. The pediatric unit is set to close in 2014.
